The legendary musician Sting gave a charity concert at Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater within the Art Week Style.uz on October 17, 2009. Laureates of “Kelajak ovozi” (Voice of Future) Contest for talented youth as well as “Yangi avlod” (New generation) Contest of children’s creativity of the Fund Forum became diploma receivers of special grant prize by Sting.
A concert by Sting took place after the awarding ceremony. Despite the crowded schedule, the musician was in the groove and enraptured visitors by demonstrating high class performance. Irreproachable vocal execution accompanied with improvisations of the musician in bass-guitar added new unexpected phonation to his long-popular compositions. Viewers were pleased with every detail of the concert and warmly welcomed each song performed.
The Forum of Culture and Arts Foundation initiated to spend the funds from the concert to various charity initiatives as well as grant programs regularly conducted by the Fund Forum. Most seats were at the disposal of participants and laureates of youth and children’s contests and festivals held under the patronage of the Fund Forum - “Yangi Avlod”, “Bolajonlar-shirintoylar”, “Kelajak Ovozi”, etc. Besides, invitations were given to young activists and volunteers regularly participating in projects of the Fund as well as to Honored Culture and Art figures of Uzbekistan and media representatives accredited in the Art Week.
The singer was inspired with liveliness of the audience, thus the two-hour concert passed in a burst of inspiration. Prolonged applauses were gifted to Sting and the musicians, letting not them to leave the stage.
Live broadcasting of the concert on monitors installed at the square next to the Navoi Theater gave chance to the rest to watch it outside.
The Saturday evening October 17 in Tashkent turned into one of the unforgettable moments of the Art Week Style.uz 2009 that was saturated with other no less radiant events.
